For 115 years, the history of Ferris has been marked by innovation, leadership, and invention. Known today for superior turf equipment, Ferris prides itself on delivering mowers with full suspension, industry-leading dealer support and meeting the needs of commercial landscapers.

AGRICULTURAL ROOTS

 

1909

Ferris Industries began as the Uebler Milking Machine Company in Vernon, NY, with a focus on agricultural equipment.

The First 125

 

1986

The company shifts its focus to the emerging landscaping industry, and the first 125 Ferris-branded lawn mowers hit the market, building on the original company's legacy of durable machinery.


The First of Many Patents

 

1987

Ferris patents and launches the first hydrostatic drive walk-behind lawn mower. The industry takes notice.

Todd-Gordon

1995

Ferris works with engineer, Todd Gordon, to pioneer mower suspension, closely modeling it after the automotive-style suspension of race cars. Todd Gordon would later go on to become a NASCAR® Cup Series Champion Crew Chief.

Out with the old

 

1995

Ferris starts to outgrow its first manufacturing plant, originally a WWII Quonset hut.

In With the New

 

1998

After a two year search, Ferris purchases the old Stockbridge Valley Central School in Munnsville, NY for $1. Choosing to stay local and invest in revitalizing the community, a deeper sense of pride in Ferris is formed.

Revolutionary Suspension

 

1998

Ferris’ legacy of premium suspension starts with the introduction of its 4-Wheel Independent Suspension system. The company now holds 16 patents related to its suspension system.


In Good Company

 

2004

Briggs & Stratton® acquires the Ferris brand leading to further growth.

Taking Home the Gold
 

2015-2019

The North American Equipment Dealers Association honors Ferris with Gold Level award four consecutive years for superior products, parts, and dealer support.

On the Move

 

2019

Ferris moves manufacturing operations from Munnsville, NY to Sherrill, NY, doubling its capacity in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.

Ferris-NASCAR

The Need for Speed

 

2022-2023

Ferris sponsors a variety of NASCAR drivers acknowledging the critical suspension systems that drivers and mower operators prize.


It's Electric

 

2024

Ferris manufactures its first electric zero-turn, the Ferris 300e, bringing its patented suspension to an electric unit.


2024 & Beyond

Ferris continues to trailblaze innovation, seamlessly blending tradition with cutting-edge technology. Our journey knows no bounds as we propel towards a future where innovation meets legacy, shaping the mowing landscape for generations to come.
